Em being a true farm woman!!

William got the hang of it.  Look at that stream of milk!!

Showing us how it should be done!

A young boy showing us how to do it.  All the farmers wear those big rubber boots.

They have one donkey at the Hacienda and he liked to make lots of noise!!!

Hike to waterfall in Mojanda

The beautiful countryside.  All of it is farmed.
Steve, Em and Sam having a snack to keep him going!

We had to have a man from the Hacienda go with us and some of us carried sticks because the day before a woman had been bitten by the neighbor's dog.

Another view of the countryside.

Sam, the hiker!

Spencer enjoying the waterfall.  He fell in and got wet!

Some cows along the trail.

The Duersch Family!

Another shot of the Duerschs

It was about a 30 minute walk from the hacienda and well worth it!  Ecuador has some beautiful spots!!

Fishing at Primavera

We drove to a nearby river in a small village and let the kids fish with bamboo poles and worms for bait.

My good lookin hunk!!

Eli just wanted to throw rocks in the river.

Catherine hoping for a bite from a fish.

Eli and Emily.

The river was pretty fast moving and made me nervous.  William went to the other side to see if the fish were biting over there!

William and one of the employees from the hacienda helping him.

Under the bridge!

William caught a fish and the cook fixed it for dinner.  He didn't eat it!!!

Casa Mojanda

Our livingroom.  We had some nice fires.  It was actually cold the few days we were there.
The kitechen was well stocked with pots and pans etc.

A replica of some of the orginal homes found in this area.

Inside the home with a live tree growing in the middle.

Hand woven mats used for beds that some of the people in the area still use.

They had a garden they used to produce some of the food they served.

Taking a tour of the grounds with Anna Maria, the manager of the hacienda.

We walked from the Hacienda into the city of Otovalo and this was one of the homes we saw along the way.

A pig grazing by the river with a corn field behind.

Sam got tired to Will gave him a lift.

The path into the city through the farming area.

A view of the farms in Otovalo.
They farm the steep hillsides.

Resting at the park in the center of Otovalo.

Resting before we walked to find a restaurant to eat at!!
